The Indian automobile industry has been steadily on the rise since the 1991 economic liberalization. This steady growth has landed India in the top 10 in automobile exports. The Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA), the leading informant of automotive parts and accessories, works hands on with the automotive industry of India to establish relationships within the country, as well as attending automotive fairs, and representing the automotive industry in government. The ACMA is a powerhouse moving the automotive industry, including automobile production as well as parts, well into the future.

According to a comprehensive study completed by the AMCA, the automotive components industry in India, overall, has steadily grown over 23% from 2002-2008. Another 11% growth is expected from 2009-2016. Paying particular attention to exporting, the India components industry showed a 26% growth with an anticipated 27% growth expected by 2015. With numbers like this, the automotive components industry is poised to be a major contributor to India’s economy.

On the home front, AMCA is working hands-on with the Indian government to establish a plan that will put India in the forefront of the automotive components industry on a global level. Not only is the focus on increasing exports and imports, but with this new initiative, there is also an expected 25 million new jobs to be created.
