"Dr Naik is a very intelligent and very well experienced doctor I have ever met. He is a Dhanvantari. Our family’s three generations have been under his treatment. Last month I witnessed how he has cured so many patients with serious malaria. He had saved so many lives and no words can express enough my appreciation of his work. I recommend him to anyone who is in search of a good family doctor. May God bless him; that he will serve more and more patients. Hats off to Dr Abhay K. Naik! ↩ ... "
USER GUIDE TO General Medicine
There are numerous manufacturers of finished injectables, tablets, capsules, and oral preparations in India. These include herbal products, health care products, pharmaceuticals, over the counter medications and more.
Most prescriptions are sold in tablet form. A tablet is a measured pharmaceutical dosage usually manufactured in a powder form and then compacted into a solid. The binders are checked to ensure health safety, digestion, appearance, and taste. Sometimes an edible polymer coating is used to make the tablet easier to swallow. These coatings can also help control the release rate of the active ingredient or medicine and extend the shelf life. All ingredients must be kept dry and be uniform in size during manufacturing for content uniformity. Content uniformity is important for dose measurement of each tablet. Not all drugs can be manufactured as tablets or taken orally. Some, such as insulin can be denatured by stomach acids.
Solutions, suspensions, and emulsion formulations are generally manufactured for patients who cannot swallow a tablet or if use of the active ingredient is better suited for liquid digestion. These medicines are classified as liquid oral preparations. In order for a liquid oral preparation the drug must be soluble. This can involve the need for added components for taste, color, and to prevent degradation and bacterial growth.
An injectable is usually shot from a syringe to put liquid medicine into the body. The methods of injection include intradermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intravenous, intraosseous, and intraperitoneal. A depot injection is most often subcutaneous or intramuscular for the use of drugs over a period of time. Depot injections are often solid or oil-based.
